Thinking bigger – Parent Participation

Parent participation is all about parent carers having their voice heard where it can make a difference to the services and provision that they and their child experience. As a forum we do this by sharing information, by gathering views and experiences through surveys, consultations, local events and meetings, and by having parent carer representatives take the views of our families to professionals and voluntary groups. We also work through the North West Regional Network and National Network of Parent Carer Forums to ensure that the views of Lancashire families are heard at Government level.

What is the National Network?

There are over 63000 parent carers involved with parent carer forums across all areas of England. Together we make up the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF). Representatives from each region of the country form the Steering Group of the NNPCF. Lancashire is a member of the North West area and parent representatives attend the Regional Network meetings to give the views of Lancashire Parent Carers. Through our regional representative our voices are heard at Government level and influence national policy.
